"Studijobs" - Jobs for Students
The master program is a fulltime-program. The modular structure of the program many advantages for teaching, but the disadvantage that you don't have a fixed timetable that is valid throughout the semester and therefore is very timeconsuming. Every 3 weeks you get a new timetable. In general there are always lectures in the mornings, sometimes also in the afternoon or group work, self-study, laboratory, ... In addition some modules offer exkursions (1 day - 1 week). Except in the evenings and on the weekends, it is difficult to have a permanent job. Jobs as assistants at the faculty are most recommended, as they can usually be more flexible. Tenders for research assistants or "Hiwis" are often posted on the "Schwarze Brett" or sent via the mailing lists.
Students are allowed to work a maximum of 85 Stunden per month. We strongly recommmend not to work more than 30 or a maximum of 40 hours per month.
More information can be given by the SWFR Studierendenwerk Freiburg.
Hint: For students who don't speak German or English (native) it can be very difficult to find a job on the faculty and outside of it.
Further information on financing your studies can be found here.
