What are the requirements for admission?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a forestry or environmental science programme
  • Average grade of at least 2.9
  • Appropriate language certificate
  • General professional requirements:

50 ECTS from the areas of natural sciences and forestry sciences, social and economic sciences and quantitative methods

  • Additionally 25 ECTS with professional requirements  for the desired elective track

Which Elective Track suits me?

Each Elective Track conveys different focuses and therefore requires different prior knowledge. This is why you need to choose one favourite Elective Track (and one alternative) during the application procedure.

Die deutschsprachige Profillinie "Landnutzung und Naturschutz" konzentriert sich auf die nachhaltige Nutzung von Landschaft und ihren Schutz. Ökologie und Formenkenntnisse spielen hier eine große Rolle.

Welcher EInfluss hat der Klimawandel auf unser System? Wie reagieren Flora und Fauna und wie verändern sich Stoffkreisläufe?

The profile "environmental modelling and GIS" aims to provide the technical skills that are needed to handle data, both in terms of collecting and storing, as well as in analysing and visualising them.

How to create bio-based products? Knowing the biology, chemistry, material science and processing technologies of natural materials is the base of this elective track .

The english taught Elective Track "Wildlife and Biodiversity" focuses on the ecology and the protection of the biological diversity of flora and fauna with an emphasis on terrestrial ecosystems.

What are the requirements of the Elective Tracks?

25 ECTS aus den Bereichen Ökologie und Ökosystemmanagment. (Formenkenntnisse von Vorteil)

25 ECTS über ökosystemare Zusammenhänge und fundierte Kenntnisse im Bereich Ökosysteme

25 ECTS from the areas of numerical and imaging computer applications as well as quantitative methods or scientific fundamentals.

25 ECTS from the areas of biology and utilization techniques of renewable raw materials, as well as chemistry and other natural sciences.

25 ECTS from the areas of ecological and population biology

Which language certificates are required?

  • Native speaker are excempt from the obligation to provide evidence
  • If you chose the German Elective Track:

German Level C1 (or native speaker) and English Level B2

  • If you chose an English Elective Track:

No German skills needed, English Level C1

Here is an overview of accepted language certificates

!!!Language certificates/proof of language proficiency must be available at latest at the time of enrollment! But at the time of the application, it must be ovious, that the mandatory language level can be achieved (language test registration, proof of language course, experience abroad, studying with english as medium of instruction, ...)

Enter your application online into our Application portal , follow the step-by-step-instructions and upload the requested documents.

The uploaded documents are used for the assessment and form the basis for the decision about your application. The uploaded documents should therefore (largely) match the original.

!All documents must be submitted as original or as certified copy* during the enrollment!

* certified copy: Information about a correct official certified copy:  Merkblatt des Service Center Studium.

 

Note for B.Sc. students of the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg:

To make sure you can enroll in time, it is strongly recommended that you submit your bachelor's thesis until September 1st!

How does the application process work?

Please log into the application portal

  1. Enter your informations and upload the necessary documents
  2. Print out, sign and upload the confirmation form
  3. Submit the application online and print out the control data sheet
  4. After the deadline, the applications will be examined by the selection committee
  5. If you fullfill the technical requirements, the final check by the "International Admissions and Services" will follow
  6. Admission letters will be sent by the IAS to the adress stored in the application portal
